NATIONAL TOURIST ASSOCIATION

Founding and mission
National Tourist Association was founded on December 16, 1993 with the aim to promote tourism in Slovenia as its strategic developmental opportunity. The Association performs activities of public interest in Slovenia and abroad.

Members and partners
Members of NTA are companies, organisations and individuals that have applied for membership of their own free will and are directly or indirectly engaged in tourism.
At present, NTA members include:
- over 100 leading Slovene companies operating in the field of tourism
- over 200 renowned individual members
- a number of collective members – tourist societies, agencies, hotels, casinos, ski lift and cable car operators,  farmers who offer  tourist accommodation, managers and caretakers of points of interest including caves, castles, caterers, private innkeepers and professional colleges and high and schools for catering and hotel trade

Programme orientation
- to accelerate the development of tourism-related trade, know-how, and the use of modern technology
- to encourage the development of supreme quality services, competitive offer and excellence in tourism
- to introduce international standards and criteria applied in the European Union
- to develop the dialogue between tourist trade and Slovene economy, government and politics.

Activities and references
- Slovene professional quarterly magazine Tourism News and scientific publication Academia Turistica (only in Slovene)
- meetings and conferences focusing on tourism - in 1999, NTA organised the 49th AIEST  Congress
- annual conference for high-school tourism and catering students "Mladi za turizem"
- projects for promoting high quality & excellence in tourism
- NTA web site www.ntz-nta.si (in Slovene and in English)
- monthly NTA e-newsletter "NTZ e-novice" (only in Slovene)
- seminars, round tables, workshops with domestic and foreign experts and lecturers
- participation in international projects, European Union programmes, cooperation with and membership in various international tourist associations and organisations
