The river is lighted by the warm white light coming from the floodlights positioned on the embankments. Particularly enhanced are the bridges, lighted with green floodlights, and the trees, mostly poplars and willows, which decorate the embankments.

Ljubljana will also in the future be festively lighted on public holidays and other special occasions. On public holidays Ljubljana Castle will the lighted in white, blue and red, the colours of the Slovenian flag.
