The Trnfest and the Emona Promenade Festivals
Trnfest festival in Ljubljana will be accompanied by the Emona Promenade festival, an international street festival which will take place in the Eipprova ulica street from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily from 27 to 31 August. It will feature a programme of performances, creative workshops and other events intended for audiences of all ages. The festival will be offering a programme of concerts, theatre and dance performances, literary readings, film screenings, exhibition and visual art events featuring performers from both home and abroad. The five festival weeks will see over 100 different admission-free events.
Like every year, the major part of the Trnfest festival will consist of concerts. The performers will, among others, include the ethno, folk and word music groups Silvia Iriondo (Argentine), Orkestar Aguševi (Macedonia), Wagner Pá (Spain), Brina (Slovenia), Oya Theatre Group (Tanzania) and Ljubojna (Macedonia), the jazz musicians Drago Gajo (Slovenia), Projekt Bongo (Slovenia) and Manufactur (Switzerland), the rock bands Boo! (South African Republic), Kiks (Slovenia), Intimn Frizurn (Slovenia) and Bast (Slovenia), and the electronic and dance music groups Stijn (Belgium), Cruxshadows (USA), The Slackers (USA), Rade Rapido - Radares (Serbia and Monte Negro), La Familia (Slovenia) and El Gran Silencio (Mexico). Outdoor concerts will be followed by DJ parties taking place at the KUD France Prešeren concert hall.
The festival will be accompanied by a variety of dance, music and theatre workshops under the tutelage of artists from home and abroad. The accompanying programme of events will also include several art exhibitions and installations, whose themes will traditionally be related to the issues of contemporary society. Thursdays will see a varied programme of creative workshops for children. Children's workshops will within the festival also take place at the House of Children and Arts in the Trubarjeva ulica street.
