Janez Sirše, MScHead of Consulting
Janez Sirše finished his Master’s studies at the Faculty of Economics, Ljubljana, in 1977 and after that took an active part in economic research and development planning. He was a first Minister of Tourism of independent Slovenia. Since 1993, he has successfully run the National Tourist Association and since 1994 the International Tourism Institute, where he now works as a head of consulting services. Moreover, he has been teaching tourism-related subjects as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and the Faculty for Commercial and Business Sciences in Celje. As a multidisciplinary expert, he contributed to the establishment of »Centre for Training in Tourism« and »Turistica - Faculty of Tourism Studies in Portorož«. With his extensive knowledge of tourism, he contributed to the development of several national strategic documents , marketing and development plans and innovative international tourism projects. He disseminates his knowledge successfully abroad, to the EU and the rising markets of South-eastern Europe. From 2010, he works for the Serbian government as a team leader in a project of implementation of their national tourism strategy.
Miha Bratec, MScExpert
Miha Bratec graduated from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana. After working in journalism, marketing and at the law firm, he decided to pursue an international postgraduate programme »European Master in Tourism Management«, where he got a Master’s Degree at the University of Southern Denmark and MSc degree in Business Administration at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. In his award-winning master’s thesis he studied hotel performance measurement. Later on he improved his knowledge of hotel benchmarking with doing a practical training in Vienna. He is currently working as a project leader at the International Tourism Institute and National Tourist Association. He is an expert for sustainability, competitiveness, social tourism and hotel benchmarking.
Mateja PodkrajšekExpert
Mateja Podkrajšek graduated from the Faculty of Tourism Studies in Portorož. During her studies she gained practical experience in travel agency DeltaNet Travel in Crete and a year after in incoming travel agency Angela Shanley Associates Ltd. in London. After that, she decided to pursue an international postgraduate »European Master in Tourism Management«, a programme awarded with EQUIS and TEDQUAL accreditations, which courses are taken at the University of Southern Denmark, Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana and University of Girona in Spain. Currently she is writing a thesis on the influence of EU structural fund on sustainable tourism development and working as a project assistant at the International Tourism Institute. She is an expert in sustainability, innovation, cultural and accessible tourism.
